SIT B.Arch students won INTACH Heritage award for excellence in documentation-2017

Architecture students of Shrinivas institute of Technology (SIT) Valachil, Mangaluru under the guidance of  Dr.Shaila Bantanur again received the “Award of Merit”(south zone) for documenting “Zeenath Baksh Masjid, Mangaluru” on December 13, 2017 at New Delhi.  Entries from  National wide all the architecture schools were exhibited in New Delhi from 12-15th of December, 2017.  This is the second time the team is receiving the award. Previous year, the same team had received award from documenting “Guru Basadi at Mudubidri” .

A team of six students namely Akshay GK, Santhosh Prabhu, Rajat Kumble, Prajwal Pandeshwar of Fourth Year students  Adithya Hebbar and Harsha Raj from third year students extensively worked over a month for this National level competition. As an asset to Heritage of Mangaluru and to their culture, objective of this documentation was to identify a unique structure, which will be known for its historic/cultural significance. Zeenath Baksh is one of the oldest mosque with temple features that made us to proceed for documentation.

The award function will be organised by Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), in collaboration with Council of Architecture (COA) and National Institute of Advanced Studies in Architecture (NIASA) soon. The team would like to acknowledge the kind support of the Management, Principal and Head of department of Architecture SSA.
